Clare Parker Homes Management Present at Petition on Disability Sector Reforms During Legislative Assembly Session
Regina, Saskatchewan — October 27, 2025
Clare Parker Homes proudly joined a coalition of organizations and advocates at the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly to petition for long-overdue reforms in the disability services sector. Led by Executive Director Rosa Smith, our management team stood in solidarity with other groups to demand better funding, improved services, and fair compensation for individuals with disabilities, their families, and the support workers who care for them.
The petition, presented by Brittney Senger the MLA for Saskatoon Southeast in the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly, representing the New Democratic Party (NDP) was a comprehensive and heartfelt appeal that outlined the sector’s critical needs and expectations. It was formally received by members of the Legislative Assembly, marking a significant step forward in the ongoing advocacy efforts.
Despite the momentum, the atmosphere at the event reflected a mix of hope and frustration. Many attendees voiced concerns over repeated discussions in past sessions that failed to yield meaningful change. Speaking on behalf of Clare Parker Homes, Executive Director Rosa Smith emphasized the urgency of action:
“It is okay the minister agreed to meet with us and do whatever needs to be done in regard to consultation,” Smith said. “But it’s not okay to say that just because this is the disability sector, the value of our employees and the people we serve is any less than somebody in the hospital or long-term care unit.”
Clare Parker Homes remains committed to advocating for equity, dignity, and recognition within the disability sector. We believe that meaningful reform is not only necessary—it’s overdue.
